Policy and a Pint - September 2026

Join IPAC Victoria and the UVic School of Public Administration for an informal, non-partisan evening of conversation, connection, and community-building over a pint. This event is open to public servants, academics, students, and anyone interested in public policy.

We’re pleased to welcome Dr. Mark Zacharias for a conversation on “Rethinking Boreal Wildfires Through a Climate Lens.” As Canada faces increasingly severe wildfire seasons, Mark will explore how we might rethink forest management, harness new technologies, and address wildfire emissions as part of Canada’s response to climate change.

Mark is the former president of Clean Energy Canada and former B.C. Deputy Minister of Environment and Climate Change Strategy. He is currently an adjunct professor at the University of Victoria and a climate fellow with the Pacific Institute for Climate Solutions.

The evening will include:

  • A 15–20 minute talk

  • Informal networking and social time

Come meet fellow public servants, connect with the IPAC-Victoria Board, and be part of a growing community of policy-minded professionals in Victoria.

Entry to the event is free — pints not included. Please RSVP below.
